About my origins & sometimes about my past
Now the colleagues at work they LOL
When I answer them that I come from the Gauls
But when it comes to arguing about democracy
And improving parity and equality
I’m told: “If I ain’t happy I can go back home”

Walking down the streets is such a pleasant thing,
You can meet your friends, or sometimes the police
Looking for the thugs and asking « - Your passeport Miss!
Don’t hang out too late if you wanna stay free »
Wanting to debate about what means a thug
I say « - You can arrest me and take me to Rome
Because I belong to a nation of rebels
As should everyone who claims to be a Gaul »

Coming out of jail, I look around me,
To find a place to sit and just soak up the sun
When someone yells for me & says he works for the press:
« Are you the one the people call, the last of the Gauls? »
« I heard about your story & got a great great deal!
My editor wants me to write your biography! »
I say « I’ll do it myself, I’ve already a nom de plume
From now on you can call me Charlène De Gaulle»
